Oh so sad to see Toto (and Tinman) for sale! Y’all were our first neighbors (2015 Fall NOG) after we picked up our 21. Have always read your blog fondly… Interested to hear what your plans are.
Dianne Duncan says
Some lucky person(s) will get a wonderful, super maintained rig.
drpaddle says
Oh, great, Diane, now you’re going to want a commission or something. 🙂

Have you sold your Escape yet? I’d love to know more about it and why you are selling. I also have a cairn terrier! I currently have a 17SD Casita that is just a tad to small for two people.
drpaddle says
Hi Mary. No, haven’t sold it yet (just put it on the market yesterday!). A few folks have indicated some interest. We are headed into retirement and will take some long, long trips, some with an additional person on board (Mom!). So we’re going to get an RV with a bit more space (and a bedroom door). We have some very good friends who went from a Casita to a 21 a couple of years ago — no regrets, they say. 🙂
Kurt Bischoff says
Ooooh, I can hear the plangent sound of a diesel!

Hi I just saw your ad. We (my wife and I) are looking for a 21ft Escape. One question – what do you use as a tow vehicle – 6 or 8 cyl. My 4Runner is a 6 and can pull 5,000 lbs. We have had a 17′ Casita for the last 5 years. Thanks
drpaddle says
Hello! We have pulled the trailer with a Nissan Frontier 6 cylinder 4×4 these 3.5 years. It’s rated to pull 6100 lbs. Is your 4runner adequate? Maybe… Depends on its payload and your comfort with borderline tow capacity and how often you travel over high mountain passes. Fully loaded our trailer runs about 4200 lbs, 500 lbs. tongue weight. Hope that helps.

Toto has a new home! Neal and Meg just wrote us a check and will be back for Toto later this week.
We’ll miss him, but we have all those great memories, and soon we’ll be making more of ’em with TotoTwo, or TotoToo, or Toto2. Not sure yet about the name that will follow Toto. 🙂
Mary F says
Congrats on your sale, and especially to Neil and Meg!!
Neal says
Neal n Meg say thanks! We’re excited new Escape owners!
Kathie Newlyn says
Oh my gosh you guys, I can’t believe your selling Toto! I hope you stay in touch with everyone! Good luck on your future plans!

Oh, you’re not rid of us that easily. We are getting an SOB, but Toto and the Escape community will remain in our hearts. And we’ll probably try to crash a rally or two. 🙂
Melinda - Nova Scotia says
Just wondering – have you sold the trailer?
Do you have your new rig yet? What did you end up getting?
How are your cairns doing?
I’ve spoken to you before about the cairns, we have a new one he’s two years old now – his name is Tewcsby (our other was 16 when she crossed over the rainbow bridge) sure do love these little dogs. Big dog in a small body.
Regards

Hi Melinda,
Yes, we sold Toto and TinMan and have acquired larger, versions of each. You can get glimpses of them here and here. If I ever get my act together I will resume posting with details. It has been fascinating experiencing the “other side” (dark side?) of RVing — plenty of pluses and minuses to explore. The good news is that the fun part of going out — being closer to nature — hasn’t changed. And Wally and Tyler absolutely love the new trailer because there’s more room and more comfort for them. And of course their happiness is the most important consideration. 🙂
Hey are you in Nova Scotia? We’ll be in your area in a few weeks, on a little train tour from Montreal to Halifax. Never been there, can’t wait to explore.
