After lunch last Monday, we packed the boys into TinMan and drove over to Waikiki Beach. No, not the one with a Diamond Head view… this one.
We thought to make our way across the driftwood and check out the antics of a lone surfer. Yes, a surfer, here on the Washington coast in February. Who knew?
Well. Getting over the logs was going to be tedious with two of us feeling gimpy that day. Then we found a path that circled round most of the big stuff, and Sooz led the way. Not for long, though.
A squeal. No, a shout. Some kind of alarm at any rate. “Snake!” Sooz jumped back, and we three boys jumped back, and we heard the news. “It was a couple of feet long and this big around.”
None of us are wild about snakes. Yes, we like the natural world, but only most of it — not all of it. Not the reptilian part.
We decided to retreat to the parking lot and consider our options — one of which was Going Somewhere Else. Which we did. And we never got close enough to see if any tropical fish had accidentally showed up here due to some GPS error.

Reptiles are evil. That should be a topic all its own.

I think you’re onto something. In fact maybe an entire blog of its own. But someone else will have to write it. I couldn’t take the nightmares.
