If someone else modifies their trailer, and the mod looks good online, then shouldn’t everyone else try it, too? No, not necessarily, but
— wow, I am hardly started and an announcement has just been made that I HAVE TO FIX DINNER. —
This dinner is pretty easy, but it’s going to hold me up a bit here. There is water to boil. Pasta to cook, and drain. Sauce to re-heat. Parmesan to sprinkle. Salad to… wait, I had salad for lunch. Forget that. Oh and I probably have to get out napkins and flatware and water glasses.
Tyler and Wally love it when we have pasta, because we usually let them lick the bowls when we’re finished. They know the scent (aroma?) of the sauce, and they start making assumptions. We could ignore Tyler’s whimpering toward the end of dinner but, um, how?
Okay so I make the dinner and come back.
–BACK–
So we’re trying an experiment with the Toto Lounge. I did some work with a pencil, straightedge, 3/4″ plywood, jigsaw, router, random orbit sander and two terriers.
Tyler got to check it out first.
Will Wally ever get his chance at Lounging? Stay tuned.

Great blog…! Beautiful pics! We just ordered Escape 21′ to be picked up Jan 2016. Oooh. Can’t wait. Currently in a Casita 17′ SD. We live in Port Townsend, Wa, and will be going to the Osoyoos rally. Are you? Would love to see your interior!
My question: Where do you store your dining table when you are lounging? This table thing is taking all my energy! We want,to get it right the first time, and not have to shuffle with mods and more mods. Did that on the Casita. Thanks!
Carla Jean (and Ned). No pooch yet…looking.

Hey Carla Jean,
Welcome! Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the lounge-and-table question is… widely asked. We’re still trying to figure it out. The two trips we’ve taken (including the one we’re on now, posts to come) using the lounge option, we left the table (and the two stock posts) at home. If we wanted to take it with us, we could have put it in the bed of our truck, because we have a tonneau cover that’s generally waterproof.
Here’s the thing. We camped a number of times in the winter months — mild winter, for sure, for this part of the world, but still, we spent more time inside. And we liked having the table. But in the five nights we’ve spent without the table … it has been fine. I’ve just discussed this with Sooz, and I know it’s not an ideal answer, but… we’re still not sure yet.
What’s needed is a lounge with a table option. What’s the right table configuration for that? Not sure but we don’t like those two pedestal things.
Port Townsend… we were just through your town yesterday on our way to Deception Pass for a quick 3-night trip. What a wonderful place you live.
We had reservations for Osoyoos but had to cancel a couple of days ago… a client is making me do stuff for them during that time (I need the client). So we slipped out early for a few days here at Deception Pass (no complaints). So, we won’t be there, but if you want to poke around Toto and you’re willing to drive to Gig Harbor, you’re always welcome.
Incredible sunset from Bowman Bay tonight. Life is good.

Thanks for you reply. Just returned from Osoyoos rally. Wow! Huge turnout (I think around 110-120 Escapes and two Casitas). The noise was deafening in the club house, but a lot of fun. What a beautiful area! Would love to spend more time perusing the vineyards and wineries. However, coming back through the Osoyoos border was challenging, at best. We had checked the prohibited items online and thought we were okay. However, they chose to “go by the book” took every vegetable and fruit (and chicken) we had, even if it was purchased in the US. The agent said that the website was ‘not up-to-date’. Oh well. Life is still good.
We are at Lake Chelan presently and are heading to the Yakima River for some flyfishing. Friday, we head to the Taidnapam rally, and I think I saw your name on the list of attendees. Hopefully will see you there!

Yes, we will see you at Taidnapam! Should be fun. The food-across-the-border thing is a puzzle, that’s certain. We had been trying to determine if we could smoke a pork shoulder here and take it with us for the pot luck in Osoyoos. Never did figure it out. Decided to buy a small charcoal kettle and smoke the shoulder at Nk’Mip. Trip cancelled (this time)… we’ll bring it next year!
