This winter many of our friends have gone off with their RVs to southern locales, seeking bluer skies and warmer air than we usually see around here.
They missed out on what the local media called Snowmageddon.
Meanwhile, the folks in Arizona hid out in their trailer, dodging hail stones and raindrops. Our pals in Baja fared better with weather but encountered questionable roadways. Others spent some weeks in Kiwi country, which just felt annoying (to me, not to them). They saw penguins.
Were they all better off than us? Maybe. I think so.
We did camp for the Christmas holiday, on the rainy Oregon coast, at a semi-abandoned KOA. It was… festive.
Then, an unusual thing happened. The sun came out, the weather warmed, and someone cancelled their campsite reservation at nearby Belfair State Park. We uncovered, de-winterized, and bolted.
Belfair is so pleasant in the off-season, if it’s not pouring. I got lots of practice with the camera.
While at Belfair we spent considerable time planning future trips. If fate allows we will visit Yellowstone, the Washington coast, Vancouver Island, Utah, and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta this year.
Meanwhile… Belfair.
